What Is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a health condition defined by problems producing or using insulin, a hormone that helps break down food into blood glucose. A third type, gestational diabetes, occurs in pregnant women. Depending on the type of diabetes, treatment can include insulin, medication, and changing your diet and exercise habits.
